Desktop applications

Does your product need access to files, devices or operating system features? We build and develop applications for Windows, Linux and macOS, including background and offline applications. We connect local operations with the user interface and online services. We can build a new tool or take over an existing application.

Connect work on the computer with the rest of your product

Users work with files and hardware while the application exchanges data with your systems. The scope also covers installation, updates and diagnostics. We check behaviour on the target operating systems and the application’s use of computer resources.

What you receive

  • A Windows, Linux or macOS tool matched to user tasks
  • Access to files, devices and computer functions where needed
  • Local data processing and exchange with other tools
  • Installation, updates and diagnostics supporting each release

Where we can help

Files need to be processed locally

The application reads documents or other files on the computer and sends results to your system. If the task needs to work without internet access, we define what to store locally and how to transfer it when the connection returns.

Users need to operate a connected device

We bring device configuration, data readings and controls into the application. Users can see the device status and the result of an operation. We test communication and error handling on the target hardware.

Data needs to be collected while users work

We build background features, such as recording activity for time tracking, with a view where users can check the collected data. Tests cover resource use and how the application behaves when the computer wakes from sleep.

TimeCamp: a background application connected to the operating system

TimeCamp collects activity signals for time tracking. We develop its background operation, operating system integration and user interface. Native modules work with application logic so computer activity can be used to prepare and review time entries.

All projects

We appreciate that the Software Logic team brings its own ideas for improving our product. They respond quickly when our needs change and deliver what we agree on. We work with people who care about the quality of the application and take responsibility for their work.

Getting started and what to expect

You can commission the first stage on its own. We agree on the work and its cost before starting, and you decide what comes next based on the results. If you already have a specification or assessment, we use it to plan the work.

Application requirements analysis

The requirements cover user tasks, operating systems, devices and installation. The findings define local features, required integrations and technical constraints relevant to estimation.

Application and integration

You can try the agreed tasks in a working application connected to local data and the business services it needs.

Distribution and development

You receive a release with an installer and update process suited to the environment. Diagnostics and tests of subsequent versions support ongoing maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

When you need hardware access, intensive local processing, offline use or a specialised interface. We assess those needs before recommending a desktop or web application.

What does your desktop application need to do?

Tell us the operating systems, devices and user tasks involved. We will identify what needs to run locally, which integrations are required and where to begin the analysis or development.

After reading your message, we will follow up with questions and suggest a conversation about scope and pricing.
